I’ve tried taking tablets but it seems to take 4-6hrs before they ‘kick in’ & dull/remove the pain (even the so called ‘fast acting’ ones).

I have been getting really bad tension headaches that start at the base of my head and put my whole head in a vice. My doctor told me that an ice pack would be the best way to help it but I feel like it sometimes makes the base of my head feel more cramped. Is it better to use a heating pad or stick with ice?

I’ve been having this tension headache because of this tense muscle in my neck and shoulder. The one on the back is stiff, the muscle in the middle is stretched like a guitar string, and the one that is on the front seems a little stiff and a little stretched. I don’t know the name of these muscles, sorry, but this has been bugging me for the past couple days. I have trouble sleeping and muscle relaxants won’t cut it. I’ve tried just about any massage i could google for and nothing has worked yet. Any help?

I started the headache on Wednesday night and was home from work all day yesterday and I feel some residual effects still today. Nausea, my hearing sometimes goes in and out, my equilibrium is a little, sunlight hurts my eyes-…is this normal? I never was headache prone but is this a migraine? I would bet a Dr. couldn’t do anything about it either.
